Nerea Mafarki is composer, singer and songwriter of World Music. For her, music was never a choice, but something like destiny. Since little, all people around her could guess what kind of path she would walk in the future.
Nerea’s music is full of diverse colors and emotions. A world made of genuine sounds and mixes, that crosses boundaries. This is the result of her own inspiration and curiosity, combined with her experience working with musicians from different parts of the world: Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Gambia, Morocco, Egypt, Sudan, Syria, Pakistan, India, Iran, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina…
Her versatility, capable to add beauty and a personal touch to any style of music, her voice and the magic of her improvisations, the piano and the beating of ethnic percussion, with the oriental dance, become the way to express her art. She loves to investigate variated musical genres, but World Music is the one which has stolen her heart deeply.
For Nerea, music is an effective, powerful and beautiful way to send messages, to express world and life reflections, to connect hearts with each other, to heal, to honour life. This is something we can find in her lyrics.
Actually, she also directs Adouna, an ethnic choir formed by people from different countries and continets, where they gather and perform songs from different cultures of the world, and where the voice turns into a way to liberate and connect with each other. Eventually, they sing at social events.
In her first album KELINTUPUAH, released on April 2024, we can find all this background, while music takes us trough a journey where emotions can be found, and where we don’t have to move from our place to feel like we have flown to many others. A journey with original songs that create an story, and mix Spanish with other languages: Parsi, Arabic, Quechua, Armenian, Asturian, English, Hebrew, Bangla, Urdu, Ancient Egyptian, Greek and Wolof. It counts with the production of Bruno Travi, and with variated collaborations of musicians from different parts of the world.
